It looks black but it's actually a very dark brown chocolate fondant - a yummy covering for a chocolate cake for the birthday boy who loves chocolate.
He loves playing chess so I did some research and found this interesting game-in-progress so he could continue the game if he felt like it.
Each and every chess piece is hand made using fondant.
