There are so many packaging options available now that the simplest way for me to propose options are:
1. Venue environment (aircon, windy, hot etc)
2. Number of boxes needed
3. Theme / Favourite colours
4. Preferred style - romantic, modern, simple, ornate, girly, masculine etc
5. Likes - flower, hobby, show, cartoon etc
6. Budget (with a rough $$, I can not only give you different design options but also give you different box options which hold different amount of cupcakes)
7. Roughly how many cupcakes in a box (eg only 1, around 3, 9-12 etc)
8. Any packaging likes / dislikes (eg with ribbon or sticker, plastic, carboard or wooden box etc)

If you are getting more than 10 boxes or want to consider nicer packaging, it is best to start discussions at least 1-2 month in advance so that I can secure the packaging needed.

Different Designs for Different Folks

Here's a sample box that I did for one of my customers to explain a few of the different designs that can be done for cupcakes:
Top left - flat buttercream swirl with 2D fondant heart and mini heart sprinkles
Top right - tall buttercream swirl with handpainted embossed 3D fondant butterfly
Middle left - flat buttercream swirl with 2D fondant daisy
Middle right - tall buttercream swirl with 3D fondant flower
Bottom left - flat buttercream swirl with buttercream swirl rose and silver spinkles
Bottom right - flat buttercream swirl with 2D butterfly and colourful sprinkles

This is to help with the understanding of what 2D / 3D is, sprinkles and the different swirls for buttercream. The sky's the limit when it comes to what design can be done! So, to make it more meaningful, it's nice to personalise the design to the event or the person(s) involved. As such, I really appreciate it when my customers give me as much info as possible in order for me to come up with more choices of design ideas.

Some things to think about are:
1. Venue environment (aircon, windy, hot etc)

Daisies in Red-Pink-White


Instead of having the same deco for all cupcakes, it's nice to vary the size & colour of the deco and background finishing (eg some with sprinkles and some without, different color frosting) - shown here are 4 pieces of 1.5" cupcakes in souffle cup sitting in a floral paper cup for a prettier finish.

A pretty little gift for chinese weddings. "Hei" is in fondant resting on top of a buttercream covered cupcake. A clear round plastic container is all that's needed to let the cake "speak" for itself...
